![]() ![]() In 2008, Guillermo became Product Manager for AutoCAD, before moving to platform work around interoperability. He spent the next four years creating consumer products, including the 123D line, Meshmixer, and Tinkercad. Guillermo has worked with Autodesk since 2006, evangelizing, implementing, and training with most of the company’s disciplines, with a particular focus on Building Information Modeling and Design Visualization. We wanted it to fit into his collection and so designed together with a pot.Matt Griffin sits with Guillermo Melantoni to discuss the evolution of Tinkercad, Autodesk’s groundbreaking software that has introduced 3D design to millions of users. He was the one to give us an idea to make a 3D printed cactus. He has a collection in the office and at home. One of our colleagues is a huge cactus fan. Cactus and a Pot Cactus Design in Tinkercad It is fun to remix ready designs, for instance, to place a random head onto a well-known character. Sometimes what we predicted to fail worked out very well and visa verse.Ī great feature is that it is possible to open STL files in Tinkercad and redesign them. With more complex objects we had to go back to the drawing board several times. Test file 3D printedģD printing own designs is quite exciting. In the picture below the object served to check the stringing of ABS filament and to learn acetone vapour smoothing. Later this design was used to test new filaments. We wanted to make sure that it could turn our creation into STL 3D printable file. We used the shapes available in Tinkercad. Our first 3D design was very simplistic: a cylinder and a hexagonal prism towers. (Image: 3DWithUs) Tinkercad – The Best 3D Design Software For Beginners It is very intuitive and it is also browser-based. As we were looking for a 3D design software for 3D printing, it had to be able to convert the design into an STL file. It takes a lot of patience to figure out the options and even the navigation. ![]()
